How To Get Fierce Clarity & Reclaim Your Life
Written by Katie Tallo.Ever drive somewhere and realize you got there on auto-pilot?
Many of us live our lives that way. We barely notice how we got where we are. Long ago, we slipped into auto-pilot and did what we were supposed to do.
“And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile, And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife. And you may ask yourself-Well…How did I get here?” ~ David Byrne and Brian Eno from “Once in a Lifetime”Owning your choices is a way to get some fierce clarity that can change your life. It’s takes courage. It’s means tossing aside excuses, regrets, veils and blinders. It’s means snapping out of auto-pilot so that you can see your life with fierce clarity – see it for what it is and what it could potentially be. Fierce clarity is about gathering momentum and reclaiming your life.
“You need to claim the events of your life to make yourself yours. When you truly possess all you have been and done, which may take some time, you are fierce with reality.” ~ Florida Scott MaxwellTo start reclaiming your life and begin gathering some fierceness – step back, take a deep breath, and think about the basics – how you eat, live, work and play. Now ask yourself some simple questions:
Why do I do it that way?
How did I get here?
Was this my decision, my choice?
Am I doing what my family or culture has always done?
Is there an alternative?
Am I happy doing it this way?
Do I feel good?
Does this feel right?
Is this really me?
Is this what I believe in?
What would happen if I changed?
How can I change?
Do I want to change?
What can I change today?
It’s a beginning. If you’re honest and clear about how your life has gotten where it is, no matter what the answers tell you, it’s a beginning. A place from which to focus. A place in which fierce clarity can burn a new path. Let go habit, guilt, self-doubt, fear, and obedience and let in awareness.
“Following another’s path leads to who they are, not to who you are.” ~ Harry PalmerDon’t let anyone tell you how to look, act, feed yourself, entertain yourself, earn money, spend money or raise your kids. Reclaim your life and with fierce clarity, do things your way.

Great list of simple questions – a good check-up to see if we are in a state of clarity or not. We can think we are clear even as the the mind goes into auto pilot…the check-up provides a moment to readjust in to “fierce clarity.”
A great reminder!!!!

Thanks Aileen. Yes, we can think we’re clear and focused. I think that’s why breaking routine is so important to snapping us out of auto-pilot. Thanks for checking in!
I hate that feeling of arriving somewhere in a vehicle and not remembering the trip! And not paying attention in my own life has definitely brought about all sorts of issues over the years from getting out of shape to relationship challenges. I’m not anywhere near perfect now, but I catch myself more often now when I’m in autopilot mode. I try to ask myself these questions regularly: What am I feeling and why? What am I thinking and why? What am I doing and why? Quite the wake up call some days

Ah perfection! So glad to hear you’re not perfect. None of us are, but kudos to you for being a little more aware when you flip on autopilot. And good questions. When my mind starts racing with insecurity I try to not only ask questions but step back and just observe, as you say, “Why am I thinking this way or acting this way?” It definitely brings about a different kind of awareness. Thanks for visiting Jean.
Was feeling stuck on my auto pilot til I read this!! Again, Thanks Katie!!
