  1. Hi Barrie. I thought I’d come on here and just have a nice little read, but you’ve given me some serious work to do :) It’s okay because I’m ready for it! I really appreciate all the resources you’ve shared with us, and your writing is fabulous, as always.

    • Hi Jean,

Hope the work isn’t too painful! I think it’s the most valuable work you can do and well-worth the effort it takes to dig deeply. A soul search is a life-long journey, because the more your examine yourself, the more infinite possibilities you discover. Thank you for your kind comments.

  2. This is great, Barrie! Love the analogy. Well maybe I don’t, come to think of it lol

Anyway, I know a few areas in my life are out of balance, and I’m working on them, and there are some smaller ones as well. But I’m going to go through this exercise anyway, as soon as I can make a good chunk or two of relaxing time for it, because I know something new will come to light or I’ll realize something, or something like that. Definitely don’t want to rush a cleanse! lol

Until I get to it I think I’ll just up my roughage intake lol

Thanks, really. This looks like it will be really good to spend some time on. Sending a link to myself and putting it on my calendar for the weekend!

  3. Hi Barrie,
Just the notion of feeling lighter has me looking at my calendar to see when I can carve out a chunk of time to peruse all the resources you’ve offered here!

This is really wonderful: As you purge your soul of your former self, start creating a new self based on what you have learned. What brings you joy and fulfillment? Where do you feel the most comfortable and authentic? What people support you and love the person you really are? This is where you should invest most of your time and energy. A passionate, extraordinary life involves not only ridding yourself of toxic or useless actions and attitudes. It also requires filling your life with what you love and value.

I’m definitely due for a “soul colonic.”

  5. Barrie, this is a fantastic post and fits perfectly with Soul Searching week of the cleanse … I know it’s meant to compliment it, but it does so with such brilliance it’s really, really incredible.

Thank you for the resources/links you included they are great.

“Will it hurt? Maybe a little. But the success rate is extraordinary.” just brilliant.

You really made me dig deep while processing this, thank you for that.

  6. I echo what Jean said – no simple read here – Hmmm. I like to think I live this way a lot more now than I used to but I wish I could take my mom and my family and some of my friends down this path. I guess everyone has to do it on their own. As far as the physical cleanse goes, I made the terrifying decision of going vegan yesterday (Katie knows!) and I wonder if that will give me more of a balance than before. It’s not a drastic change but it is a change! Thank you for the food for though, Barrie!

    • Farnoosh, I hope you will blog about your switch to being a vegan. I think readers would be really interested in the ups and downs of weaning yourself off of certain foods. I think that’s wonderful. I know you will feel so much better with this change. I’m so glad you liked the post. I agree that everyone has to chart their own course. It is frightening for some people to look too closely at themselves. It has to happen on their own time. Sometimes it never happens. But you can be a good example for them, and it seems that you are!

      • Barrie, at the end of day 2 and I must say I feel different but mostly need to make sure I can find foods that can replace those I miss like my yogurt! I hardly miss or eat meat but sushi or sashimi! Oh my gosh, I miss them just thinking about it but yes, back to the bigger cause, I am definitely going to blog assuming I make it far enough – Funny how once we set our mind on something, it just becomes the way of life! Thank you for the encouragement Barrie!

  7. Barrie,

Another brilliant article packed with resources. I love the idea of doing a soul colonic. There is nothing set in stone and we can cleanse and start fresh at any point.

It seems like a lot of work but it is the kind of work that is worth doing. So I’m going to schedule time off in August (after all our family visitors go home) and work on this.

    You’re a wonderful writer Barrie.

  8. Manal, thank you so much. I am really flattered by your comments. I do think it is work worth doing. There is so much interesting to learn about yourself. Just taking a personality assessment can open your eyes to so much. Thank you for being a regular commenter.

  9. Barrie – Fantastic use of right brain.

I could see a project execution pattern presented in your steps. Get aware of (initiate), desire (plan), flush (execute), heal and discover (monitor & close) – just awesome.

List of the resources is also invaluable. Indeed, a momentum gathering article.

Looking forward to explore your other great articles elsewhere on the web.

    Best,
